Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie from New York City is something of a legendary figure in the ambient chamber music world. Releasing consistently boundary pushing music for over 20 years he is without a doubt most famous as one half of the droning duo 'Stars of the Lid'.
Stars of the Lid is considered to be a genre defining slow burning musical act that has its home-base at Kranky Records.
Over the past two decades they have released seven astouding lp's of drone textures and have solidified themselves into the history books as being an intergral part of the formation of this genre.
Now Bryan is more active then ever writing music for film (Solero & Iris released on Erased Tapes) and working with the equally amazing Dustin O'halloran on their project 'A Winged Victory for the Sullen'.
A Winged Victory's first LP is my go to recommendation for people wanting to get an introduction to Neo-Classical music.
He also has released music under the moniker 'The Dead Texan' with the Greek musician and video artist Christina Vantzou along with a very small amount of music under his own name.
For an introduction to his sound I would reccomend the music found on The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid. It is a great and varied album that bridges the gap between his dark drones and his more melancholic ambient chamber music.
